The Abbey of St Mary’s is a Benedictine Abbey founded in 1055.
The rules of St Benedict put aside specific times of the day for study and contemplation.

For the medieval scholar, to understand the world was to grow closer to God.

The Abbey of St Mary's in the Museum Gardens was illuminated using 3 PIGI slide projectors.  This piece ran in sync with its companion piece that was projected onto the York Museum a few metres away.
